What was it like to grow up in the long shadow cast by the lighthouse? Waves pounding the caves beneath the cliffs so hard the whole rock quaked, gale winds driving spray completely over the promontory sculpting ice an inch thick on the east windows, water pipes and ink bottles freezing, hot water heat failing, lightening storms knocking down curtains and making the telephone dance in the living room…
