PMN 2011: Historic Masonry Mobile Workshop

Led by Robert Mack, FAIA, of MacDonald & Mack Architects, this practical training session uses various downtown Faribault buildings to provide viewers with an understanding of historic masonry restoration practices and the methods and techniques used for evaluating, restoring and repointing historic masonry. Learn about inspecting and evaluating masonry structures, methods for the repointing of mortar joints, understanding historic brick and stone, and methods for evaluating and controlling rising damp.

  1. Thank you for the wonderful resource. The Preservation Conference in Faribault was great. Our Heritage Preservation Commission is collecting resource information on preservation techniques and materials. The information is available to the public our Bailey House Research Library. I will add the podcasts to the list.

  2. I was excited to think it was a physical tour that people could go on…but this is equally as viable a resource. Not a bad idea actually, to do a materials tour, instead of strictly-history tours.
