Abraham Lincoln as War President

Where: Cantigny First Division Foundation. First Division Museum, Wheaton, Illinois

When: Saturday October 18, 2008, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM


Presentations:

  • The Emancipation Proclamation as a War Measure (Paul Finkelman, Albany Law School)
  • Current Lincoln Scholarship (Harold Holzer, United States Lincoln Bicentennial Commission)
  • Lincoln Records in the National Archives (Trevor Plante, National Archives and Records Administration)
  • President Lincoln and Ulysses S. Grant (John Y Simon, Ulysses S. Grant Association)
  • Lincoln and the Copperhead Movement in Illinois (Thomas Schwartz, Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library)

Living History re-enactors will be on display during the Symposium. Teachers can earn continuing education credits. Cost:

  • General Public: $40.00
  • Teachers/Civil WAr Round Table Members: $20.00
  • Students and Senior Citizens: $10.00.
