Symposium on Sovereignty and Autonomy in the Americas
A day-long symposium on Sovereignty and Automony in the Americas will be held March 8, 2008, at the University of Minnesota Coffman Memorial Union, Campus Club, West Wing, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The symposium will feature John Borrows, professor of law at the University of Victoria, as keynote speaker; and:
- Panel on Indigenous Self-Determination in the Americas (Ana Rosa Duarte Duarte, Lourdes Gutierrez-Najera, and David Wilkins)
- Panel on Legal Pluralism in the Americas (Victoria Bomberry, Natividad Gutierrez Chong, and Anna Hunter)
- Discussions on Indigenous Self-Determination and on Rethinking Sovereignty and Autonomy Among Native and Chicano Communities
- TURIX: Digital Media and Mayan Automony (Byrt Wmmack and Ana Rosa Duarte Duarte).
