Local History Roundtable Meeting at Central Library in Minneapolis
JoEllen Haugo of the Hennepin County Central Library in Minneapolis extends an invitation to a gathering of local researchers, historians, writers, and librarians.
Hope you will consider attending a round table discussion on April 28th from 6-7:30 here at Central Library. It is an opportunity to visit with others involved with our history and to share what projects you are interested in or working on.
– Have you just published a book? Or you are busy writing one? Writing an article of interest-but need to figure out who might have the information you are searching for? Are you a library or museum that has started processing a collection of interest? Are you a book publisher and would like to let folks who what is currently being worked on. Are you curious about what others are working on? We would love to have you attend our Local History Round Table and share your topics and questions.
Most of the time will be taken sharing information about what individuals and organizations are working on but we are planning on starting the evening with a demonstration by Minnesota Historical Society staff of the new wiki Placeography. Others coming will be representatives from organizations including the Minnesota Digital Collections, Northwest Architectural Archives, Immigration History Research Center, Charles Babbage Institute Archives, Social Welfare History Archives, the Minnesota Society of Architectural Historians, Preservation Alliance of Minnesota, Brooklyn Historical Society, HCL Central Library-Special Collections, representatives from local neighborhood history groups, Bloomington Historical Society, Hennepin History Museum, Historic Homeowners Association . . . Should be a fun opportunity to share.
If you would like to have more than 5 minutes to talk about your project, organization or upcoming event or if you need special equipment or space for a demonstration, contact JoEllen (612-630-6081) ahead of time.
Some snacks and beverages will be available. We are hoping it will be a fun event. Mark your calendar!
