Needlework Sampler

Monday, October 3rd, 2016

A needlework sampler worked in pale colored threads on a rectangular tan ground. Several complete and partial alphabets are stitched in rows across the top. The sixth row appears to read “ANN O 1818,” with part of another letter after the “O.” A number of different figures in varying sizes are stitched on the bottom half of the sampler, including a floral heart around the maker’s initials and age: “RS” and “14”.
