Plains Beaded Pipe Bag

Monday, November 2nd, 2015

A Plains beaded pipe bag circa the late 19th century. Narrow bands of beadwork decorate the top and side edges. A wider band of geometric pattern beadwork is sewn to the bottom of either side of the pouch, and uses pink, black, orange, red, yellow, green and blue glass seed beads. A quill wrapped thong tied in a bow is attached to the top of the pouch and terminates in a gray metal cone with traces of a gold metallic finish, stuffed with dyed orange feathers at the larger end. Circa 1880.
