Dorothy Hill Dress

A dinner dress of ashes of roses silk taffeta and white tulle, embellished with ribbons of lace bows, cording, gauging, ruching and silver threads. Designed by Lady Duff Gordon (Lucile, Ltd). The designer named her dresses each season. This dress was named “Happiness” and was designed in fall of 1916. It was owned by Dorothy Hill, daughter-in-law of James J. Hill.
