On this day, September 24 in 1963, President John F. Kennedy spoke at the University of Minnesota – Duluth about the area’s high unemployment rate.

This photograph, signed by Hubert Humphrey, is from that day and shows Kennedy with Senator McCarthy, Rep. Fraser, Governor Rolvaag and Humphrey at the Duluth airport.
