Toy wooden shoe

Toy wooden shoe game used at Michael Dowling elementary school (Dowling Urban Environmental School) in Minneapolis.  During the game, wooden child figurines were placed inside a hole in the back of the shoe in illustration of the nursery rhyme, “There was an old woman shoe lived in a shoe / she had so many children she didn’t know what to do.”

For more details, view the shoe in our online collections catalog.
