U.S. Army cavalry bit
United States Army Model 1863 tinned iron bit with curved shanks and a size 4 port (the curb chain is missing). The bit has a brass “US” bit boss riveted to each end of the mouth, a broken shank support, and fragments of leather reins attached to the rein rings. The right side bit boss is attached upside down; the left is right side up.

the description doesn’t mention that the “rosette” (technically a “boss”) is attached upside down. Is the one on the other side also upside down?
