Two-piece brown dress, circa 1880.  The silk velvet brocade bodice has long, fitted sleeves, a one-inch standing collar and front closure with 19 metal buttons. The satin outer skirt is trimmed with three vertical strips of two-inch brown satin ribbon, two strips of wool braid and brown velvet.  The underskirt is of brown polished cotton with a silk satin edge, also finished with velvet.  The gathered waist has a single back hook-and-eye closure.
