War for the West: Minnesota regiments in the Civil War

Filed under: Podcasts and Slideshows — Adam Harris @ 12:17 pm

While the 1st Minnesota Volunteer Infantry is well known for its service at Gettysburg, the state sent 21 other military units to the Civil War. In this episode, Brian Pease shares the stories of three of Minnesota’s lesser known units, each of which made important contributions in the war’s Western Theater.

The return of four of Minnesota’s recently-conserved battle flags to the State Capitol will be celebrated with Civil War Flag Day at the Capitol on Saturday, April 9. The event is free and open to the public.
