Although remembered today as a local hero, Charles Lindbergh was also regarded as a controversial figure during his lifetime. His American neutrality stance during the early years of World War II was often attacked by anti-German groups, as shown in this double-sided paper badge distributed by New York’s Fight for Freedom Committee, circa 1938-1941.
