The Color of Winter
Despite sub-zero temperatures and record snowfalls, Minnesota winters can be dramatic and spectacular. Curator of Art for the Minnesota Historical Society, Brian Szott, highlights several works of art from the collection by Minnesota painters and printmakers that are inspired by the season and its stark beauty.

Thank you for those wonderful winter images. They made me think of Minnesota winters in a new light–they are an antidote to winter blues. And “light” is what creates the uncommon beauty in all of the pictures–even in the wood blocks and and the darker images like the Henry Holmstrom’s “Zero Morning.” I’m going to sign off now and watch replay the slideshow.
